Bethany Celebrates Senior of the Year Award

The Annual Senior of the Year Award program was held Thursday, September 19, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fargo.  The event is a program of Bethany Retirement Living.

The Senior of the Year Award program recognizes the contributions of seniors in our community.  Through their professions and the time and resources they give back to the area, they have made this a great community in which to live.

Recipients include Brian Quigley – Business Person; Allan Peterson – Community Involvement; Carol Zielinski – Education/Arts; Dorothy Heieie – Faith: and Marlene Batterberry – Health/Wellness.

Quigley has had a successful career in marketing with a variety of local firms including his own Shamrock Marketing and has been involved with the Fargo Air Sho and is a co-founder of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade; Peterson has been an advocate for the disabled, especially the vision impaired; Zielinski has actively supported many arts programs in the community and has worked to integrate arts and education; Heieie taught home economics around the world and is an active volunteer at Elim Lutheran Church; and Batterberry was a nurse educator and now is a parish nurse and volunteer in a variety of health-related organizations.

Other nominees include David Gilchrist, Roger D. Larson, Wayne Larson, Robert Lind, Richard Logan, Larry Lubben, Judi Lundstrom, Donald Peterson, John Pierce, Mort Sarabakhsh and Beverly Schons.

Proceeds from the event help support the mission of Bethany Retirement Living, to provide living opportunities in a senior community shaped by Christian values.

Bethany Retirement Living was founded in Fargo in 1939 and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  Bethany provides high-quality care to the elderly in skilled nursing, memory care, rehabilitation, transitional care, assisted living, basic care, senior apartments, and personal care programs.
