Bethany Retirement Living will launch an exciting new Music Therapy program by hosting multiple showings of the critically-acclaimed film “Alive Inside” at both Bethany campuses on Tuesday, September 15. The event will focus attention on the amazing impact that music can have on seniors, especially those with various forms of dementia. The showings are open to the public at no charge.
The movie presentations will take place at 9:00 am, 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm at both Bethany on University and Bethany on 42nd. Showings will be followed by a brief presentation about Bethany’s plan to equip every resident with their own personal music player loaded with their favorite music. Bethany is the only certified Music Therapy program in the community.
Attendees are encouraged to donate new or used iPods or MP3 players at the event.
As devices are acquired, Bethany Community Life staff and volunteers will erase the equipment and will load the personal music preferences for each of Bethany’s more than 450 residents. The player will be available any time the resident wishes to listen or can be used for behavior management and other social interactions.
