Bethany’s Nutrition Care Team

At Bethany Retirement Living, our Nutrition Care Team strives to keep our residents as healthy as possible. Our dietitians are especially skilled in nutritional care for the elderly population.

At Bethany Retirement Living, we staff five Licensed Registered Dietitians as well as Certified Dietary Managers. These individuals are in charge of ordering the correct products, supervising the cooks who prepare the meals, and ensuring the right menu options are offered to prevent any food reactions or negative medical outcomes. The dietitians are in close contact with nurses and providers, and use their professional training to make recommendations for nutritional supplements, vitamins, lab work, and more. Licensed Registered Dietitians are also part of the care team that reviews medical diagnoses, medications, weight, skin and so forth. They check weights daily, as well as new orders to be sure all needs are being managed appropriately.

Bethany provides special diets for residents with diabetes or heart disease as well as those with medical conditions such as Lactose Intolerance or Crohn’s Disease. The Bethany Nutrition Care Team is also able to manage diets for residents who have suffered a stroke or those with a condition that makes swallowing difficult. Our dietitians work closely with the therapy department to ensure safety and the appropriate diet.

All dietitians are open and available to answer questions and provide feedback to family members regarding their loved one’s nutritional health. In addition to being present at care conferences to provide information, the dietitians can be contacted via phone. The continual training and expertise of our Nutrition Care Team allows residents to maintain or improve their nutritional health, and puts family members at ease, knowing their loved one is receiving the best care possible.
