Resident Success Story

By March 27, 2019March 23rd, 2021Blog

At 89 years old, Bethany resident Don Larsen has been – and currently is – an active member of the community. He has a very special connection to Bethany as his mother and two aunts were residents before him. Don has served on the board of trustees at Bethany for 12 years and has lived here for five. He said after seeing how his family was cared for, if he ever needed senior care, he knew Bethany would be the right place for him.

We would like to recognize Don for his extraordinary accomplishments and thank him for his contributions to the community. Throughout the years, Don has been involved with many organizations. He was a member of the Casselton Park Board, School Board, and City Council just to name a few. One of Don’s biggest accomplishments was being the President of Casselton Community Medical Center for 50 years. Some of his favorite experiences and memories involve traveling to over 50 countries with his late wife, Ardeth.

Today, many businesses offer time off to employees for volunteer work. Don’s advice to the younger generation is to take advantage of that time, get involved in the community, and find something that you enjoy. He’s noticed many people who volunteer are older or retired. He thinks it would be great to get younger people out to support non-profit organizations and give back to the community.

One of Don’s favorite parts about Bethany is the many residents he meets that have incredible wisdom, experiences, and stories to share. He is thankful for the friendships he has created throughout his years with Bethany and continues to make more every day.
